On 23 July at 2.22 pm Tihange 2 was disconnected from the high-voltage grid and automatically stopped according to the applicable procedures of the site. The shutdown is the result of an irregularity detected in the regulation system of the steam turbine of the unit. It is situated in the non-nuclear part of the power plant. The necessary interventions have started immediately to reconnect Tihange 2 back to the grid in all safety and as soon as possible. Reconnection is currently scheduled for the end of the day.

The automatic stop has no impact on the employees, the population or the environment.

Electrabel has communicated immediately and in full transparency about this event via the ENGIE Transparency website.
